An exciting new technology is now available for fighting the effects of aging. Thermage^®‚ is a system that heats the deep tissues of the skin (the dermis) using radiofrequency energy, while simultaneously cooling the surface of the skin (the epidermis). This leads to a tightening and shrinking of the deep tissues, thus improving skin tone, reducing wrinkles and folds (particularly around the eyes, cheeks and jaw-line), and generally reversing the aging of the skin.

Thermage^®‚ treatments are done in the office, with only oral sedation, and the patients resume full activities the following day, with no redness, swelling or bruising—perfect for the professional on the go. There is usually some initial improvement, with additional improvement over the next three to four months.

Thermage^®‚ does not “wear off”, although of course the face will continue to age afterwards. Most patients feel a treatment takes five or more years off the appearance of the face.

Thermage^®‚ has been in experimental use for several years, but FDA approval for full face treatments was just given in June of 2004.
